Foster Hope exists to revolutionize the foster care system by improving the quantity and quality of services being provided to those involved, through increasing community awareness, involvement, relationships and resources.
Our Mission:
To value Identity, promote Advocacy and mobilize Community to better serve children and families in the foster care system.
Who We Help:
Foster Hope is focused on serving foster children, aging-out youth, foster/kinship parents, birth parents and the system itself.
Our Story:
It all began with a promise to each other that the doors of our home would always be open to those in need. Twelve years later, we have had the privilege of adopting two teens and fostering twelve children.
Looking into the eyes of these children and their families, we have come to know three things to be true. First, the Foster System is not, and cannot be, effective in meeting their needs. There are many reasons, but most of them stem from a lack of money and people. Second, countless children and families will continue to suffer until the community joins together to help fill the system’s gaps. Third, these children and families are valuable. Though many of them have made mistakes, some seemingly unforgiveable, we believe that it is in this most vulnerable state, that the greatest change can happen – if they just had someone who truly cared to show them how.
For us, it all came down to a moment in time that we realized that we need to choose – either stand by, complaining and wishing things would change, or do something about it. It was at that moment the Foster Hope Project began.
We are just ordinary people, working to connect our community to make an extraordinary difference in the lives of those in need. Will you help us change the face of foster care?
